Cambodia Gambling Dens

[ English ]

There is an appealing story to the Cambodia casinos that sit just over the dividing line from next door Thailand, in which casino gaming is not legal. Eight gambling halls are established in a generally small space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect spot, a 3 to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing income acquired from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million dollars, and there are a number of restrictions constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be largely Thai; however, investment sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and despite the fact visas are for all intents and purposes required to pass, there are ways around this, as is true of many borders.

The 1st Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked barge casino, highlights 150 slot machine games and sixty tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of 21, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long opened. There are 150 one armed bandits and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace.
